I was going to depict daisies, but at some moment, something went wrong
and it turned out to be suflowers. 😃
Three attempts, three roses, one canvas
canvas, oil

The gift. Not for sale.

I started painting this picture on December 1, 2022, it was a gift for a girl friend from
a distant Siberian city. Because I already had experience in drawing flowers. I decided
that drawing a rose from a photo is a couple of trifles and I will finish the work in a
couple of days. And then I will pack the picture and send a transport company a birthday
present by December 18th. That was the plan. But "BUT" crept into my plans. I have never
painted a rose with oil paints on canvas. By December 10, I realized that I would not
have time to finish the work, and on January 2, I gave up my inept attempts to depict a
flower and painted over everything with white paint. And I began to write the painting
"Salvation" (which also underwent changes in the process of writing, and was renamed
"Silent Space"), which I finished two months later. And returned to the forgotten rose.
By the beginning of April, I was disappointed by my defeat in front of a rose oil on
canvas and wrote a short letter to the girl to whom I was supposed to give this work.
And sent her this photo. To which she sent me a short message. "With your
determination and zeal, with your ability to achieve the task - I know you can do it
better." And I did, on December 25 I finished the long-suffering rose.
